What is Cowboy Mounted Shooting?
Cowboy Mounted Shooting is the fastest growing equestrian sport in the nation. Mounted contestants compete in this fast action, timed event, using two .45 caliber single action revolvers, each loaded with 5 rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition.
There are a variety of patterns used in the ring. The rider will shoot black powder blank cartridges from .45 caliber pistols, at balloons, while running these patterns on horseback. They will be scored on accuracy and time. All riders are in traditional western attire. There are a wide range of competitions, from novice levels to professional levels.
Jump in the saddle, give us a hand as an associate member, or just come out to watch this fun-filled sport, and be transported to the days of the “Old West”. There is something here for everyone. Contact us today to find out how you can be part of this exciting sport.

Oh what a month it has been! Kenda was here! As in KENDA LENSEIGNE, multiple World Champion Mounted Shooter and clinician Extrodinaire. Our long awaited clinic started off a bit dismally, complete with snow AND pouring rain. Kenda had the opportunity to experience our "springtime" in the Great Northeast! Coming out of her 90 degree Arizona, it was a shock, but it didn't slow her down. She tackled the full roster head on, working each of us on various exercises, as well as giving genuine, individual attention. By Day 2, even the most timid of us were moving with confidence, and had picked up many valuable tools and techniques to improve our game.
At the end of the clinic, awards (generously provided by Christine Boudreau) were handed out, with the "Most Improved Horse" award going to Bill Dunn of Mechanicville, NY, and the "Most Consistent Shooter" award going to Laura Sager of Ghent, NY. Both awards were well deserved.
All in all, we had a great time, and are already looking forward to a future clinic with Kenda. She was as personable and friendly as she is beautiful, and she managed to give each of us individual attention and pointers. A big "THANK YOU" to Kenda!
Not to be overshadowed by the Kenda Clinic, our own Bill Riel and Emma Reichardt just returned from Tunica, MS from the CMSA South Central Regionals, and the CMSA Nationals events. As usual, they did our club proud for being new competitors from a new club. They personally met some major contenders, learned a lot, and even narrowly missed a BIG tornado! Please check out their accomplishments on our "Braggin Rights" page. Bill & Emma - great job, and best of luck for all future matches. 'Til next time, Smokey Rose.

In spite of the miserable winter the Northeast has been having, our club has continued to hold practices nearly every weekend. Frozen fingers and loads of clothing have not slowed us down. The club is fast approaching it's 1 year anniversary date, and we are off to an exciting, and educational year.
Accomplishments of several of our members was recently published in "THE BULLET" - a publication of NYSRPA. As if that isn't enough - all mounted shooters out there, hold your hats on ............ KENDA IS COMING!!! Yes - Multiple World Champion Kenda Lenseigne is coming to put on a clinic hosted by our club. What a way to start the year off! Please check our link under EVENTS, and click on the Kenda pic for more details. 'Til next time! - Smokey Rose

A brand new year has arrived, and along with it came winter! The USNYSG members have been braving the cold, and venturing out to practice whenever schedules allow. In the Northeast here, barring a blizzard (which we had last week!), we bundle up, haul our horses, and go about "business as usual" while waiting for warmer days.
USNYSG members wish all of you a happy, healthy, prosperous, and enjoyable New Year! May you spend many hours in the saddle this year!! "Til next time - Smokey Rose.

This past saturday, Dec 4, our club held a clinic for potential new members, as well as a practice for our existing members. Our hosts, John and Sally Poltynski, graciously opened their facility to us, and Sally even joined in!
Mayor, Diane Schena conducted her usual, thorough safety clinic, strongly emphasizing the importance of gun safety. Bill Riel, fresh from his trip to the CMSA World Show, was on hand to show us all how it's done. Due to a shortage of our usual balloon runners (the Wranglers), our own Deputy Mayor, Gary Lussier, and Special Deputy, Joe St.Clair, did the honors. Who knew two farriers could run so fast in cowboy boots!
It was a fun day, with a good turn-out, and although it was cold, everyone had a great time. Check out some of the recent pictures on our photo page. Be sure to click on the Flickr photo, and hit the 'slideshow' button for a nice view. 'Til next time - Smokey Rose.

Wow!! What an amazing summer it has been for UNYSG! Several of our members have ventured forth into the Northeast competitions, and racked up some impressive records. Our own Bill Riel, AKA "The Riel Deal", qualified for, and entered the CMSA World Championship Show held in Amarillo, Texas. Club Mayor, Diane Schena, has scored her own impressive record with wins in CMSA, as well as some very impressive ground shooting in SASS. Please go to our "Blowin' Some Smoke" page to read more on our members accomplishments this summer. For a 'newbie' club, we have let the other clubs know that we are "up and coming!"

On June 5 & 6, two of our members, Gary Lussier, and Bill Bombardier, participated in a Tom Curtin Mounted Shooting Clinic held at Spencer Laflure's Circle L Ranch in Thurman, NY. We met a lot of super nice folks, and had a great time at the clinic.
